  • Beginner-friendly
  • No fitness requirements (you don’t have to be in shape!)
  • No experience necessary

We’ll also have specials if you decide you want to keep training with us!

What to expect

Our class will be broken up into this agenda:

  • Warm up as a group
  • Fighting stance and movement
  • How to use your voice effectively
  • Striking fundamentals (including the Krav Maga handshake, the Front Kick to the Groin!)
  • Wrist grab defenses
  • Defense against a common attack against women, bearhugs
  • Final drill
  • Questions

What to wear and bring

Wear anything you feel comfortable moving and sweating in. We don’t train with outside shoes on our mats, but you’re welcome to bring and change into any clean shoes you only wear on the mats (or indoors). Most people train barefoot.

Who is this for?

All our women’s self defense classes are for cis and trans women, and non-binary folks who feel comfortable being in a women-centered class. We also welcome participants who are 13 years or older.

Who are my instructors

Kaci Kai first began Krav Maga in 2008 and was instantly hooked. She now owns and operates Krav Maga ATX alongside her partner and head instructor, Jeff. Emily Alexander first began Krav Maga training in Krav Maga in 2015, a year after giving birth. She leads the Women’s Self Defense class every Thursday at 7pm.

A note on nerves

We know coming into a new gym is scary, even scarier when you’re coming to learn how to fight back. Our school is different than most. You can opt out of anything, at any time, and for any reason, and you don’t owe your instructors, your training partners, or anyone else in the room an explanation why. We recognize you might be coming to our space nervous and apprehensive. And you might be coming to us with a history of traumatic experiences in your past. You’re safe here and we’ll work really hard to keep you that way. And if you decide you want to watch for part or all of the seminar, that’s okay too.

A note on trauma

With that said, we’re trauma-informed, but we’re not mental healthcare professionals. Please speak to your doctor and/or your mental healthcare provider about whether right now is the right time to do this kind of work. Register for the Women’s Self Defense Seminar
